Appalachian Skies Media, LLC is a multimedia services company based in Charleston, West Virginia. Our offices are located at 205 Capitol Street in downtown Charleston.
Though now just one part of our overall business, the adventure of storm chasing was how Appalachian Skies was born. The unique footage and photography that we captured in those early days eventually brought the business world to us in 2003. Television networks and production companies (including entities such as National Geographic and Discovery) began calling us for extreme weather footage for use in documentaries and feature programming, and out of this demand, Appalachian Skies was founded.
In those short years since then, we have expanded our media offerings to service all types of weather footage needs - from real-time coverage of breaking weather stories to supplying dramatic, hard-to-find footage of extreme weather events. Our footage appears regularly on national and international television networks such as The Weather Channel, The Discovery Channel and National Geographic, and our photographs appear in textbooks and magazines around the world. Our StormScenes stock footage archive is the most complete weather-related stock video library available, with every type of weather represented in both standard and high-definition formats. Our clients include every major television network in the US as well as numerous advertisers and corporations.
The weather is not always active, however. We make good use of our video equipment during this 'atmospheric quiet time' in corporate and web video production service. We have recently expanded this aspect of our business with the acquisition of studio lighting equipment for on-location shoots and interviews in the Charleston, WV and surrounding areas. Quiet and clear weather is also ideal for photography of the majestic beauty of the Appalachian landscape and sky, for which our business is named. We have built, and continue to add to, a collection of premium photography of our region.
We also have a long history in the web and graphic design business. Through our partnership with CIS Internet, we develop web sites with multimedia content (video, Flash, graphics) to help businesses start and maintain an effective internet presence.
We also specialize in the sale, consulting and demonstrations for Van De Graaff generators, accessories and other electrostatic instruments.
And true to our storm chasing roots, we offer guided tours during the peak severe weather season in Tornado Alley for those who have always wanted to witness this power of nature first-hand.
